WonderCon 2015: Sinister 2 Teaser Revealed; First Trailer on its Way Soon

Sinister 2 Teaser Footage WonderCon 2015

During the WonderCon 2015 Blumhouse Productions panel yesterday, the folks who set out to frighten us each year teased something special would come for those who sat through to the end. That big announcement came in the form of promo teaser for Sinister 2. Dubbed “Warning,” this short little snippet of footage gave heed to the terror we’ll be seeing come August 21. Watch the video after the break.

Since Sinster released back in 2012 – feels like forever ago when it came out – I still have the same feelings toward it, which happen to be mostly negative. I loved the idea of the kill films. However, the first 10 seconds of the movie set up high expectations only to be let down slowly throughout its run time, leading up to a disappointing end.

The movie has a strange sense of tone where it would go from terrifying to awkward comedy. It’s quite jarring. But the main crux of my issue with the film was just the plot itself. I had no interest in the family’s horrendous ordeal.

Regardless, Sinister 2 sets itself away from the first film while only keeping its demonic Mr. Boogie mythology. Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill returned to write the sequel, so I hope they were able to work out the kinks of Sinister to devise a more solid feature.

During the panel, producer Jason Blum stated that there will be more horrific kill films in the upcoming sequel and that we’ll be getting a true teaser, and not just a teaser of a teaser, very soon.

Here’s a brief plot synopsis for Sinister 2, courtesy of IMDb.com:

A young mother and her twin sons move into a rural house that’s marked for death.

Directed by Ciarán Foy, Sinister 2 stars Shannyn Sossamon, Lea Coco, Caden M. Fritz, Tate Ellington, James Ransone, Lucas Jade Zumman, Nicholas King, Olivia Rainey, Laila Haley, Howie Johnson, and Jaden Klein. This film is set to release this summer on August 21, 2015.
