Lurking out of the shadows after 2011’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and seven years after Fallout 3, Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed the release of Fallout 4. Fans awoke delighted this morning to see the official in-game announcement trailer available for their viewing pleasure after a timer was linked to via Bethesda’s Twitter yesterday. Now that that the countdown has reached zero, check out the trailer after the break.
Although the trailer released prematurely this morning, the outcry of joy remained fairly high throughout the day. The sneak peek offered players a taste of the dystopian future, a glimpse of a suit of armor from the Brotherhood of Steel, and of course the game’s dog companion. The trailer doesn’t give much of anything away in terms of where we are in the timeline of the series, however if we’re still traveling with the dog we can assume it is the same “lone wanderer” from Fallout 3.
I think the premise of the franchise is interesting enough, but to be completely transparent, I’ve never played any of the Fallout games. But just by comparing last-gen graphics versus current-gen, Fallout 4 looks vastly improved, strangely more colorful, and pretty stunning. It doesn’t look as dark and grim as the last entry in the series. With the power of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at their disposal, it’ll be great to learn more about what new features this sequel will behold.
Tune into Bethesda’s E3 2015 Showcase on Sunday, June 14th at 7:00 p.m. PST for full details and to see the world premiere of the game.
