Welcome to your Netflix Streaming Report for April 7, 2016. After the long week you deserve a relaxing staycation with a bowl of popcorn, a bucket of ice cream, and only your Netflix queue to judge you. This past week, Netflix Watch Instant has been kind enough to supply us with The Princess Bride, Bob’s Burgers, Grease: Live!, The Hallow, The Ranch, and more. Also, find out what the Netflix and Chill pick of the week is.
The Hallow (Corin Hardy) Not Rated [1h 37min] – A family who moved into a remote mill house in Ireland finds themselves in a fight for survival with demonic creatures living in the woods. Starring Joseph Mawle, Bojana Novakovic, and Michael McElhatton
This little horror film has had some mixed reviews, but given the current state of the horror genre these days, I’d give The Hallow a whirl just to spice up what I’ve been watching lately.

Bob’s Burgers: Season 5 (Loren Bouchard and Jim Dauterive) [DVD Only] Rated TV-PG [30 min] – Bob’s Burgers centers on the Belcher family (consists of Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene and Louise) who own a hamburger restaurant. Bob’s burgers are really delicious and appear to be better than his rivals’ but when it comes to selling burgers, his kids aren’t really helpful, as more customers head over to Jimmy Pesto’s restaurant. Starring H. Jon Benjamin, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, John Roberts, Kristen Schaal, and Larry Murphy
If you like Bob’s Burgers then Season 5 continues down the path of greatness. However, I’ve tried really hard to like this show, and I still can’t stand any of the characters other than Bob and Tina. I think this show would be better off if it solely focused on these two characters and on their relationship as father and daughter. Bob’s Burgers just feels too repetitive with little growth coming from any of the characters to really care about any of them.

The Land Before Time (Don Bluth) Rated G [1h 9min] – An orphaned brontosaurus teams up with other young dinosaurs in order to reunite with their families in a valley. Starring Pat Hingle, Gabriel Damon, and Judith Barsi
A true classic. I probably watched The Land Before Time at least 254+ times when I was a youngling. It will give you all the feels.

Grease Live! (Thomas Kail, Alex Rudzinski) Rated TV-14 [180 min] – After enjoying a summer romance, high school students Danny and Sandy are unexpectedly reunited when she transfers to Rydell High. There Sandy must contend with cynical Rizzo and the Pink Ladies in attempt to win Danny’s heart again. Starring Julianne Hough, Aaron Tveit, Vanessa Hudgens, Carlos PenaVega, Elle McLemore, Carly Rae Jepsen, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, and Ana Gasteyer
Grease Live! is surprisingly amazing for all the right reasons you love Grease and live performances in general. It’s a standup production for what they had to work with and all of the talent involved are on-point.

The Ranch: Part 1 Comedy (Jim Patterson and Don Reo) Rated TV-MA [30 min] – The son of a Colorado rancher returns home from a semi-pro football career to run the family business. Starring Ashton Kutcher, Elisha Cuthbert, and Grady Lee Richmond
I haven’t technically watched The Ranch yet, but I’ve listened to my roommate burn through the entire season in the other room. And I can only imagine that the show is as dreadful as the dialogue and laugh track. Which makes sense, coming from the guy who developed Two and a Half Men.
(Watch it now)
Animaniacs (Volume 1-4) (Tom Ruegger) Rated TV-Y [21min] Ensemble cast of off-the-wall Warner Brothers characters, appearing in a wide variety of roles, including Wakko, Yakko, and Dot Warner, Pinky and the Brain, Rita and Runt, Bobby, Pesto, and Squit, Slappy the Squirrel, Buttons the watch-dog, and Chicken Boo. Starring Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Tress MacNeille, Frank Welker, and Maurice LaMarche
I dare you not to have the theme songs to Animaniacs playing in your head right now. This animated show is so zany. It’s the equivalent to a PG version of The Ren & Stimpy Show, but wit a slew of more memorable characters and fun skits. Narf!

Netflix and Chill Pick of the Week
The Princess Bride (1987) (Rob Reiner) Rated PG [1h 38min] – While home sick in bed, a young boy’s grandfather reads him a story called The Princess Bride. Starring Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Robin Wright, Christopher Guest, Wallace Shawn, Fred Savage, Peter Falk, and André the Giant
You want to give your S/O a true Netflix and Chill night, sit down with them and watch The Princess Bride. As much as the title eludes to the traditional, romantic “chick flick”, there’s more to The Princess Bride than just true love. There’s games of wit, giants, swordplay, comedy, and so much more. You can thank me later.
