After months of agonizing suspense, a teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi has arrived. Debuting at Star Wars Celebration Orlando today, this is the world’s first look at the much anticipated sequel to Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Kicking things off right where we left our heroes, there’s much to be dissected before a fully-fleshed trailer arrives.
While Luke (Mark Hamill) had no lines in The Force Awakens, he is given the first lines of dialogue here opposite Rey (Daisy Ridley). There is not much in the way of plot details given in this teaser, but Luke drops a thunderous statement about the fate of the Jedi that asks many questions.
Aside from Luke’s big revelation, we are shown flashes off Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). We also see BB-8, a bunch of fighters heading toward a group of AT-ATs, a space battle, and ancient Jedi manuscripts. Alongside the aforementioned cast, The Last Jedi also stars Anthony Daniels as C-3PO and Andy Serkis as Superme Leader Snoke along with Laura Dern, Benecio del Toro, and Kelly Marie Tran in unknown roles.
There currently is no official plot synopsis available, but here’s the first official poster:
Directed by Rian Johnson (Looper; Brick; The Brothers Bloom), Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is set for release on December 15, 2017.
