While many lie in agony over the fact that we should be deep into new episodes Game of Thrones by now, today the gods have bestowed us with a gift in the form of a trailer for the upcoming seventh season. With enemy forces marching from all fronts against the Lannisters in King’s Landing, Cersei Lanniser (Lena Headey) will stop at nothing to retain her power over the Seven Kingdoms. As the penultimate chapter before the eighth and final season, the Great War for the Iron Kingdom is about to begin.
As one might suspect, details on what fans can expect from Season 7 are more scarce than an NES Classic, this latest trailer gives much to pine over. It would appear that Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) has landed in Westeros and appears to have found an old family castle; Little Finger (Aidan Gillen) continues to whisper poisonous words into the mind of Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) against her brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington); Dothroki hordes are ravaging the lands; Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) share an intimate moment and so do Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan) and Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma); and of course dragons are running amok.
There’s still many questions yet to be revealed. Where is Euron Greyjoy, Theon’s uncle? Did he find time to build those 1,000 ships to catch up to Theon? Is he the one setting fire to the ships we see in this trailer? Where is Arya in all of this? We see her in snow, but does that mean she traveled North after her big kill last season? Most importantly, where is Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and will she fall prey to Tormund’s (Kristofer Hivju) charm?
