Only recently announced at last year’s PlayStation Experience in December, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy presented all its cards on the table in a full story trailer at this year’s E3. Not only does it look like Chloe Frazer (Uncharted 2; Uncharted 3) will be the main protagonist, but Nadine Ross (Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End) looks to be a pivotal player joining in on the adventure. And their mission to find the legendary Tusk of Ganesh doesn’t convey their partnership to be as tight as Nathan Drake and Sully.
While the announce trailer provided a first hand look at Chloe’s gameplay with some of Nadine assistance sprinkled in on the end, this full story trailer provides further evidence of just how much they’ll be working together. Coming in hot right after the May 2016 release of Uncharted 4, The Lost Legacy looks beautifully realized as its own thing and not piggy-backing off of anything from Drake’s story. If the gameplay is as riveting as the story cut scenes make it out to be then we’re in for one helluva a ride.
Here’s the official description for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, courtesy of Sony Interactive Entertainment:
From Naughty Dog, creators of critically-acclaimed Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, comes Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a new standalone Uncharted experience for the PlayStation 4 system. For the first time in franchise history, fan-favorite Chloe Frazer will lead a new adventure featuring all of the hallmarks of the celebrated Uncharted franchise, including a new rich cinematic story, action-packed set pieces, exotic destinations, and intricate puzzles.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy follows treasure hunter Chloe Frazer on her journey to recover an ancient Indian artifact. In order to track it down – and keep it out of the hands of a ruthless war profiteer – she must enlist the help of former paramilitary leader turned gun-for-hire Nadine Ross.
Together, Chloe and Nadine venture deep into the mountains of India’s Western Ghats to find the ruins of the Hoysala Empire and recover the legendary golden Tusk of Ganesh. Along the way, they’ll learn to work together and leverage their unique skills to unearth the mystery of the Tusk.
Directed by Shaun Escayg and Kurt Margenau, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is set to hit shelves on August 22, 2017.
