Unlike the 14 year wait between Wet Hot American Summer and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, fans can look forward to revisiting Camp Firewood in the upcoming eight-episode Netflix follow up Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later. The first trailer just landed online, and as the title suggest, this will be an official serialized sequel that features our favorite camp counselors ten years after the events from the original film.
All of the cast from the film and the prequel series, First Day of Camp, have returned sans Bradley Cooper it would seem. Additionally, new cast members include Skyler Gisondo, Samm Levine, Mark Feuerstein, Marlo Thomas, Joey Bragg, Jai Courtney, Dax Shepard, Alyssa Milano, and Adam Scott. Everyone and their mom is in this new season(?) of the Wet Hot franchise(?). And who knows, there quite possibly be more cameos we don’t know about, like a surprise return of Bradley Cooper?
While the prequel is more tongue in cheek by having the actors play their younger selves without the help of any make-up or special effects to age them down by 14 years, Ten Years Later won’t have that suspension of belief because they’ll mostly be playing to their real age in a way since it’s been only 14 years since Wet Hot debuted in 2001. But the fun part will be that this series will take place in 1991 instead of 1981 this time and a lot will have changed between that time and we’ll get to see how the characters have evolved and changed since their last day of camp together.
