Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class is approaching ever so quickly and they have found their Professor X. The guys at /Film have word that James McAvoy (Atonement and Wanted) has been casted for the role as Professor Charles Xavier to mentor the first generation of X-Men. Continue reading

Can Matthew Vaughn Make a Kick Ass X-Men Prequel?

Stories have been thrown back and forth whether or not Kick-Ass director, Matthew Vaughn, would be helming the prequel/reboot of the X-Men franchise new film, X-Men: First Class, based off the comic book written by Jeff Parker. Many names were dropped (Louis Leterrier, Jonathan Mostow, Daniel Espinosa, Rupert Sanders, Timur Bekmambetov, David Slade, and Carl Erick Rinsch) in terms of who would be placed to direct this film, but ultimately the final decision has been placed on Matthew Vaughn for a June, 3, 2011 release.

Thor Suits Up In His First Official Photo

A first official look of Chris Hemsworth suited up in the Thor armor has surfaced thanks to Yahoo! Movies. Looks like they are keeping true to the comic book design while still grounding it to the real world and not so animated. This is surprisingly the first picture we’ve seen from the shooting of Thor since it has been shooting for quite a while. You can see the Lightening God in action next year, May 6, 2011 with Natalie Portman and Sir Anthony Hopkins as well.

Official: Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds Teaser Trailer

FINALLY! After 10 years of hopelessly waiting and distraught whether or not this game would be released, IT IS HERE! Well not yet anyways, but it is coming soon! Marvel announced today and it was revealed last week at Capcom’s annual Captivate event in Hawaii, the unveiling of Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. The teaser shows what is in store for some of the fighting animation and characters. Capcom has taken a little taste out of Street Figthter IV and mixed it in with the MvC style as well. I’m a little worried about the announcement of around only 30 characters when MvC2 had 56 playable characters. They say that there will definitely be brand new characters while still throwing in some classic characters as well; one of mine being Morrigan. The game will be released on the Playstation 3 and XBox 360, but no official release date yet.

“If I was scared of what the fans were thinking or had any trepadition at all about doing this, it wouldn’t have gotten made,” says Niitsuma. “As a creator, I have confidence in what I create and I believe that what I make is something that the fans will enjoy. As long as I keep that in mind, I’m pretty sure this is something that the fans will enjoy.”

Spanking New Iron Man 2 Trailer #2!

The second full length trailer for the epic superhero franchise, Iron Man 2, has been released tonight after the Oscars. It sure is pretty spiffy and has tons of flashy explosions, girls, and hot new armors. Does this film still hold up to the gusto of the franchise or will it fall flat like Spider-man 3 did with all it’s characters? You decide. This trailer has a ton of new footage that helps link things together. It may give away almost too much, but it might have to if it wants to regain its fans and grab more attention to the not fanboys and girls out there.

You can see Iron Man opening in conventional theaters and IMAX on May 7, the Jon Favreau-directed sequel stars Robert DowneyJr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling, John Slattery, Kate Mara, Clark Gregg and Olivia Munn.

Check out the second full length trailer in HD of Iron Man 2 after the jump! Also I’ll add some cool screen caps as a bonus!

Official: (500) Days Of Spider-Man

Marc Webb, the director of the Golden Globe nominated (500) Days of Summer has been confirmed to direct the new Sony produced Spider-Man Trilogy Reboot. How crazy. Last week or so it was rumored about and bubbling around the Interwebs, now its Webb’s dream come true. According to /Film and Vulture, this can be claimed official and production will most likely start to begin shortly for the first of the trilogies release date  in 2012.

“The reboot allows Sony to clean house of all the high price-tag cast and crew from the original trilogy. Webb will be paid roughly $10 million for the first film, with reported substantial bonuses built in “if the picture reaches certain box-office milestones.” Sam Raimi was paid $10 million for the original Spider-Man film, but that was nearly ten years ago. The Evil Dead director’s agreement included a percentage of the film’s grosses (nearly 25 percent when combined with star Tobey Maguire on the last sequel).” – /Film

This should prove to be an interesting approach to a superhero film as this award winning music video director is faced with a big challenge of epic proportions. I’m sure he can reach the target audience of a younger generation, but will this be a good story or entertaining for fan boys or lovers of Raimi’s Spider-man. Only time will tell and I’m hoping for the best since (500) DOS was amazing.

Raimi Working On Spider-Man No More, Sony Reboots Franchise

Raimi, Dunst, MaGuire and anyone involved in the future Spider-Man 4 is out; that includes Mr. Malkovich who claimed to have agreed to play the Vulture if the script called for it. It appears due to creative differences Sony and Raimi are parting ways and Sony is looking to reboot the Spidey franchise. Sad news. I loved Raimi’s vision of the web-slinger and seeing different actors is unsettling. You can kind of look at it as the same situation with The X-Men with X-Men First Class in the works. Apparently they want to begin where Peter Parker began, back in high school and work from there all over again and will be in theaters in 2012. There have been many quotes, interviews, and reasonings behind this call to action after the jump… Continue reading

Spider-Man 4 on Hiatus

How sad is this news. Wah Wah. Apparently there is writer conflicts within the development of the fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise. Mr. Raimi does not like the latest script development and is having conflicts with Sony. You see, Sam Raimi wants the Vulture to be the main villain played by John Malkovich along with the Vulturess played by Anne Hathaway. Continue reading

Confirmed! Zombieland Writers to Pen Deadpool (Update 1/7)

I think this is a making of a beautiful thing they got going here. Zombieland = one of my favorite movies to date, and now the writers are helming one of the most praised superheroes of the geek world. According to Variety, the duo of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) will write up the screenplay to the Deadpool, who will be played by Ryan Reynolds, which is my favorite actor. This should be a pretty awesome turn out if the two don’t fail me, but I have high hopes. This is great news. I’m sure you enjoy this news as well also!

(Update) According to IESB, Reese and Wernick will also be writing the script for G.I. Joe 2. Weird? It can’t be any worse than the first film.

An Epic Look at the Disney-Marvel Merger

I stumbled on this epic ‘mural’ of someone’s portrayal of the Disney and Marvel Comics merge. I think it’s pretty cool and someone put some good thought into it. Click on the picture to enlarge it. Plus if you didn’t know, the Marvel share holders approved the buy out this past week or so. Word……
