And here we thought Peter Jackson was just pulling a fast one on us back at Comic-Con 2012. Nope! It has been confirmed that The Hobbit will be transformed into a trilogy instead of a two-part film. Apparently, Mr. Jackson was able to film so much additional footage that Warner Bros. just couldn’t say no – and who could blame them? This franchise will clean up the box office just like the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Read on to see what they retitled the second film and when you can expect There and Back Again to be released. With the truly successful Lord of the Rings trilogy in his back pocket, Mr. Jackson and his producers believe they may be able to squeeze every last penny out of your pocket by turning The Hobbit into a trilogy, not two separate films as originally thought. Nothing is official, yet, but if you were developing a movie – with mult-Academy Award winning related movies under your belt – wouldn’t you like to see how much money people would throw at you? (If you watch one part, you have to watch the others, obviously!)

Here is where I say we stand up and protest! My fellow geeks, nerds, Hobbits, and friends, we must fight against this sort of tyranny and demand studios stop with splitting up stories into multiple films. Continue reading

There is a time and place for everything, but a remake of an honestly good horror film that isn’t too dated and conceptually still scary is pretty unnecessary. Now if they were to remake A Nightmare On Elm Street with the intent of being more creative and bring a unique vision that could have improved the original story making it more horrifying, than yes, I’m all for that. Alas, this did not happen and was brought a lackluster of a film lacking any imagination, depth or even a solid story. Continue reading
