Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for their upcoming female-driven, summer comedy Hot Pursuit. Directed by Anne Fletcher (Step Up; The Proposal; 27 Dresses), the movie sees Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line; Wild) running from the cartel to ensure the safety of Sofía Vergara (Modern Family) to bring her in for protective custody. TV writers David Feeney (New Girl; According to Jim) and John Quaintance (Joey; Whitney) penned the screenplay, which will hit theaters on May 8. Paul Thomas Anderson has finally come out of hiding with the first trailer for his latest film, Inherent Vice. Based on the novel by Thomas Pynchon in 2009, the movie revolves around a private investigator in 1970. The tone of the movie is definitely a departure from P.T. Anderson’s most recent, including The Master and There Will Be Blood. It has a pretty stellar casting too, consisting of Joaquin Phoenix, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin, Martin Short, and Benecio Del Toro. We are not born with a set path in life to help guide us through the good times and the bad. It is the decisions we make that steer us into who we become. Based on the true story of Cheryl Strayed, played by Reese Witherspoon, Jean-Marc Vallée’s Wild unfortunately isn’t able to formulate a cohesive track. With more bumps in the road than twists and turns, this journey of self discovery creates little wonder or revelation to rationalize a main character walking over 1,000-miles that isn’t, herself, a Hobbit.
