Second ‘Godzilla’ Trailer Awakens the King of Monsters (53 Screenshots)

Second 'Godzilla' 2014 Movie Trailer

It’s the king of monsters versus the king of meth in this brand new trailer for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla. If the amazing teaser trailer wasn’t enough, this new full-length trailer for Godzilla will make you wish it was May 16 already. Try as he might, Bryan Cranston will be going head first against the lizard king with Aaron Taylor-Johnson as his new Jesse Pinkman. Catch the full trailer after the break along with 53 hi-res screenshots.

Now some may still have a bad taste in their mouth over Roland Emmerich’s Godzilla (1998)and the horrendous cartoon that followed – if that has been erased from your memory yet, you can thank me later for digging up a bad memory – but all doubts should be erased for this reboot after you watch this new trailer.

I don’t think there should be any caution for spoilers, the trailer does a decent job at leaving plenty of mystery, but it does open the doors wide open for a lot of discussion. There is a definite Cloverfield vibe, which most likely took its tone from old Godzilla movies. This looks to be a lot darker and meaner than any previous Godzilla movie before it, and it will be a great way to kick off the summer movie season.

The trailer does a job well done teasing just enough story to play on your assumptions and somewhat hint that this isn’t a reboot, but a sequel almost. Could they play into Godzilla films of old, or are they just referencing the first appearance of the beast for the sake of exposition? The visuals and the destruction looks incredible, but it’s the story that interests me. From what we see here there is definitely another monster with some strange spider like legs crashing down on soldiers and something big that isn’t Godzilla falling into the ocean. And what’s with the big skeleton, is that the old Godzilla? There’s only a few months more to wait and find out.

Here is the synopsis for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, courtesy of Apple Trailers:

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

What are you looking forward to the most in this new Godzilla?
