Apparently I haven’t been paying too much attention to the marketing for The Hunger Games otherwise I would have known there was a viral marketing campaign to unveil the latest poster. One hundred websites were given 100 pieces to a puzzle that would reveal the newest one-sheet for The Hunger Games. All the pieces have been put together and the newest poster sets a tone of things to come.
Now I do not have the slightest clue as to what this story is all about other than the fact that children go into a battle royale to win food for their district – I’ve been meaning to read the books so back off! This poster interests me because from what promo images suggests I figured the games would be in the woods but it’s actually fought in an arena? Or perhaps this is just an over-stylized poster with a lot of glitz and glamor? This Running Man-esque post apocalyptic future must be pretty awesome for so much critical acclaim and large fan-base.
The final poster image was unlocked by graphic designer John Howard – you can follow him on his Twitter @johnshoward. Viral marketing helped guide puzzlemasters to follow the conversation on Twitter via #HungerGames100. John was the first one to complete the puzzle and thanks to him we can all share in the joy.

Here is the plot synopsis of the film:
“Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.”
The Hunger Games will reach theaters as the poster suggests March 23, 2012 and is directed by Gary Ross staring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and more!
Thanks to Ain’t It Cool News for the poster!
