The First Official Trailer for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and Screenshots

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Screenshot 32

Christmas has come early as the unstoppable force that is The Dark Knight Rises debuted its first trailer today. What can only be presumed as one of the most iconic trilogies in the history of cinema will be coming to an end and this is only just the beginning. The fire rose and the Internets raged as Apple trailers wouldn’t work at the start of the launch, but fanboys found a way to the trailer as they passed out from multiple nerdgasms. How will Christopher Nolan’s Batman saga end?

Unfortunately this brand new full-length theatrical trailer was not earned by any means of a viral marketing stunt, it was handed to us – I’m sure many did not mind. Hopefully after the holiday season, and perhaps after awards season, we’ll start earning more Batman promos with a little viral marketing chaos.

This brand spanking new trailer delivers the goods, but doesn’t give away much – if you know what I mean. It shows just enough to get the point across to excite one’s eye-tastebuds, but it doesn’t reveal everything like a trailer for a Michael Bay film. Truly there was maybe two money shots here, the rest of the trailer was pretty plain, yet captured so much awesome – mostly due to the high anticipation for a sequel after The Dark Knight. Check out the trailer below:

Now I know what you’re thinking, how did you get screenshots for a trailer that you swore you’d never watch? And I say this to you, like the first trailer for The Avengers, I just jumped to parts by clicking on the time-bar and did not listen or partake in the viewing of anything in the trailer with constant motion. Yes, some visuals somewhat spoiled the movie, but I already knew about the Batwing and the rest of the characters. So whatever. I still have no idea what was said, why Anne Hathaway is dancing with Bale, or who Marion Cotillard or Joseph Gordon-Levitt is – then again, it didn’t look like there was any explanation to begin with, which is why this is a great trailer. It ruins nothing or so I think.

Take a look at my gallery of screenshots for The Dark Knight Rises below (click on the images to enlarge):

The Dark Knight Rises directed by Christopher Nolan will unleash the awesome July 20, 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Juno Temple, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard and more!

  1. Personally, I think it looks bloody brilliant. What I love about this trailer is the fact that it shows you just enough to keep you hooked, but not enough to spoil the story. Who is Bane (Tom Hardy)? And why is he attempting to destroy Gotham City? Where has Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale) been for eight years and what has actually brought him back to Gotham. Was it Gordon, Bane or something else? All I know is, that come next Summer, I’ll be at the front of the queue for ‘TDKR’!
