Ridley Scott is finally returning back to his sci-fi roots with next Summer’s Prometheus, written by Damon Lindelof (LOST; Cowboys & Aliens) and Jon Spaihts (The Darkest Hours) . Now this may or may not be the prequel to Alien as once assumed, but now with a complete teaser trailer on our hands, the likelihood that it may be true is looking more like a fact than fiction. You may see for yourself in this highly anticipated first look at the teaser trailer for Prometheus.
Prometheus in Greek mythology was a champion of mankind who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to the mortals. Punishment for his crimes, Prometheus was bound to a rock while a great eagle ate his liver every day only to have his organ regrown back to be eaten again the following day, which continued as a never ending cycle. Prometheus’ legend has been credited for playing a pivotal role during the beginning of mankind.
This trailer is suspenseful, it acts as a teaser trailer should, and it provides a great picture as to what is in store for the future of this space crew. Watch the trailer for Prometheus below:
Glancing at a few of the images in the trailer, as stated above, there is evidential proof that this is in fact a prequel to the Alien anthology. If the “Space Jocky” wasn’t proof enough, then the ominous layout of the pods on the ground and the head of an alien on the infirmary table could lead into the right direction as well. And what about the guy’s face being burned off? It sure looked like acid burns to me.
Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

As stated above, if you look closely at some of the scenes in the teaser, they point fingers into the right direction that this will be a prequel to Alien. Check out some of the various screenshots I took. This is probably the worst trailer to get a screenshot from though because the damn title acts as a water mark in every shot up til the end.
