‘Iron Man 3’ Super Bowl 47 Extended Spot (26 Screenshots)

Iron Man 3 Super Bowl 47 Extended Trailer

Audiences were given more than a treat during this year’s Super Bowl XLVII when the new promo spot for Iron Man 3 aired. The marketing team continues to do a fantastic job giving away only a taste of what’s to come, never revealing too much. After the big game, Marvel Studios released an extended look at the TV spot along with an introduction by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) himself. Watch the trailer and view screenshots after the break.

If you’re like me, whenever a movie trailer premieres, you question as to whether or not you should watch it in fear of spoilers. All of 2012, I avoided most big blockbuster trailers – which proved challenging, but also very refreshing. Recently, I’ve put my guard down hoping studios/marketing teams have wised up when putting together promos that are spoiler free. To my delight, Iron Man 3 has been quite spoiler free just like the first teaser trailer.

Iron Man 3 Super Bowl 47 Spot Tony Stark

Now this Super Bowl spot is more of a clip than a trailer, so if you’re fully opposed to seeing a 30-second snippet of a scene, I would avoid this like the plague. Rest assured, as long as the clip is – 30 seconds is a long time for any action sequence – you truly are not given any sort of assurance as to how the scene will play out. Tony Stark is put in quite the sticky situation and this short promo is a perfect tease as to what’s in store for this more darker take on the Marvel Studios cinematic universe. Watch at your own risk:

Didn’t I tell you? It’s not that bad. How do you think Tony will get out of this one? I’m going to assume all of the Air Force One free-fallers will be hitching a ride on Iron Man’s back as he slowly descends carrying the weight of it all.

And the best part of this spot is, now we have confirmation that James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) will be donning the Iron Patriot armor. We still have no clue as to how the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) or Killian (Guy Pearce) are involved, but one thing’s for sure, May will not come soon enough.
