‘Man of Steel’ Takes Flight on DVD and Blu-Ray November 11

It feels like ages ago that DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. rebooted the Superman franchise to bring us Man of Steel. And now they have officially announced  the home video release date. With a good handful of goodies among the special features, DC fans who enjoyed Man of Steel will get their chance to relive the experience at home and see how the beginning of the new DC Cinematic Universe has begun. See the full list of extras after the break.

After letting it stew on the back burner for awhile – see my full review here – Man of Steel remains to be mostly positive in my mind, but still has its issues. I think the Blu-ray conversion to home video will look stunning. Anytime Zack Snyder’s is involved, you know the presentation will look fantastic. The substance, however, may fall a bit short. Regardless, the special features on the discs will make up for whatever you felt was lost in the movie.

What I’m hoping to get out of the commentary is to see if DC Entertainment has a plan to fight back against Marvel Studios. Will Zack Snyder discuss his game plan? Is he the Joss Whedon of DC? Only time will tell.

For those who are not familiar with the tale of Man of Steel here is a brief plot synopsis courtesy of Warner Bros.:

A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth.  As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do.  But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

Man of Steel releases on home video 3D Blu-Ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download next week on November 11.
