Marvel Cinematic Universe fans received an extra special treat this past weekend during Super Bowl 48 as the second trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier debuted. Giving more insights as to where the sequel to Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) journey will take us, this new trailer gives a better look at The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) himself. Check out the full-length, extended trailer along with 100 hi-res screenshots after the break.
Cutting down on the jokes, the second trailer for The Winter Soldier takes the tone in a more darker and serious direction. Captain America will have a big dilemma he must face when he goes toe to toe with The Winter Soldier. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have done a fantastic job with the direction the MCU is headed and how it all ties into Avengers: Age of Ultron will be rather fascinating. Things were quite fun and adventurous in Phase 1, but Phase 2 has definitely shown its Dark Knight-esque tone.
The mystery of The Winter Soldier continues and for those trying to stay as much in the dark as possible. For comic fans, this is the new trailer is a great tease and introduction as to what we can come to expect from such a beloved character. His presence in the Marvel comics world is quite intricate and a fantastic addition to the MCU. From what we see here, no one will leave theaters disappointed.
I’m digging The Falcon’s wings, The Winter Soldier is a complete badass, and the growth of Marvel Studios’ power is just incredible to behold. What I want to know is if Clark Gregg will be hiding in the shadows somewhere to tie this all into Agents of SHIELD since this is a pretty SHIELD heavy story. I hope Agent Coulson makes an appearance, it wouldn’t feel right without him. But for those wishing for a more lighthearted Marvel movie, just wait until Guardians of the Galaxy in August.
