What has almost felt like an eternity since the incredible teaser trailer20th Century Fox has finally released the first full-length trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. With two months until its release, we get a intimate look at where we are 10 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. See for yourself after the jump.

From what we gather from Matt Reeves insights at WonderCon, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes looks to go even further into the psyche of our favorite CGI ape Caesar (Andy Serkis). The teaser gave us a short war paint look of the character with his army of apes, and this trailer gives us a full grasp of what we can expect come July.

I can really appreciate that Reeves and company have continued down the path of a larger question of family and morality while expanding this beloved franchise. James Franco will not be joining us this time around, but new human characters will be crossing Caesar’s path, portrayed by Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, and Gary Oldman.

Dawn of the Apes looks bolder and even more breathtaking than Rise of the Apes. Since Rise had such an upperhand at crushing our low expectations, it will be interesting to see how Reeves will be able to maintain the element of surprise and franchise fatigue.

Starring Here’s the official plot synopsis for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to hit theaters on July 11.
