NBC Officially Cancels ‘Community’ Confirming this is the Darkest Timeline

NBC Canels Community TV Show

It is a sad day for all Greendale Human Beings, NBC has cancelled Dan Harmon’s cult comedy Community. The show has had a great run since 2009 with five generous seasons, but unfortunately it looks like we may not get #SixSeasonsAndAMovie anytime soon. Regardless of all the adoration for Community by the fans, this is one decision they were not able to put stop.

First and foremost, I apologize from the bottom of my heart if you have stumbled onto my April Fools’ Day prank stating NBC has renewed Community for a sixth season. That is no joking matter. Despite low ratings, NBC has been kind enough to prolong the show’s shelf life. But apparently enough is enough. There are so many feeling swirling through my head that can only be expressed in GIF form:

Since Dan Harmon as showrunner for Community’s fifth season, a glimmer of hope for six seasons and a movie shined bright.

But after the show’s fifth season concluded, fans were eagerly awaiting the green-light for a sixth season.

And then this knowledge bomb dropped today. NBC. CANCELS. COMMUNITY.

I have replayed this day in my head multiple times over the course of the last few seasons, but I still wasn’t prepared.

Then it began to sink in.

Anger and hatred started flowing through me.

Desperation. HOW COULD YOU DESTROY MY HOPES FOR SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE?!@ HOW WILL I GET MY WEEKLY ALISON BRIE FIX?!

Helplessness took over. This isn’t a democratic election. And with so many different contracts with Hulu and Comedy Central, the hope to see it picked up by another channel or resource like Netflix would be near to impossible at this time.

I went into a deep depression.

And I mean deep.

How could they do this to us. After all these years of fan campaigning to bring the show back, how could NBC not understand we just wanted one more season.

JUST ONE MORE.

All of our dreams. Our hopes. It’s all gone to hell. This is the darkest timeline.

Community Darkest Timeline

And here’s what some of the actors and Dan Harmon had to say about the cancellation on Twitter:

It has been a glorious time to watch these characters learn and grow over the past five years. The stories Dan Harmon has told will be some of the greatest memories in comedic television history. Perhaps down the road we will see everyone return for a reunion season like Arrested Development or maybe in the fashion of Girl Meets World, I wouldn’t put it past Harmon with how meta tis show can get. I

With Community axed from NBC’s programming, the longest running comedy on the network is now Parks and Recreation, which looks like it will be ending next season. Luckily, if you’re a fan of Dan Harmon’s humor, you can check out Rick and Morty, which has been renewed for a second season.

Community starred Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Donald Glover, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Jeong, Jim Rash, John Oliver, and more recently Jonathan Banks and Brie Larson.

I will miss you Community.

Forever yours,

Tyler
