Second ‘Interstellar’ Trailer Reveals Big Concepts (69 Screenshots)

Interstellar Movie Trailer 2

Despite a tasty teaser with an incredible monologue by Matthew McConaughey, the story surrounding Christopher Nolan‘s latest feature, Interstellar, has been practically a mystery; until now. The second trailer for Interstellar has hit the Internets and provides a more closer look at the dire situation on Earth and the necessity of interstellar travel. Watch the trailer after the break.

In a time where we have a critically acclaimed show like Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, Interstellar feels very important and timely. Nolan’s films – Inception, The Prestige, Memento, and The Dark Knight Trilogy – have always been pretty high concept and dazzling. The idea that man must reach beyond the stars to save ourselves as  a species, and put aside our differences for the fate of mankind is pretty heavy.

The trailer introduces us to a lot of faces, McConaughey as Cooper, Mackenzie Foy as his daughter Murphy, and his son Tom played by Timothée Chalamet. We also catch a few glimpses of Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and David Oyelowo. How they factor into the story is not clear at this time, but if you look at IMDb, a few of their character credits are listed. They are a bit spoilerish, so beware.

Now that we know a bit about the plot, Interstellar has definitely jumped to one of my most anticipated films of the year. Not to say that it wasn’t before, but the idea and the themes surrounding this project really catch my fancy now that I see the bigger picture.
