The Season 8 Trailer for ‘Doctor Who’ Appears During World Cup

BBC Doctor Who Season 8 Trailer

This past Sunday during the FIFA World Cup, Doctor Who fans rejoiced with the first released trailer for the upcoming season 8, airing on August 23rd. Those eagerly anticipating a host of new and old faces to return were not disappointed. After the jump, see what Stephen Moffat and the BBC team have in store for the new season of Doctor Who.

It’s great to see the mad man with a box finally back, with none other than the loveable companion Clara Oswin Oswald (Jenna Coleman). Since the regeneration of the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi), fans have been awaiting to see what adventures this new doctor and his companion are going to embark on. This teaser definitely indicates a dark tone for the highly praised series, and it will be interesting to see what lies ahead with this new doctor.

When Peter Capaldi was first announced as the newest doctor many were skeptical if he was going to be up to the task and how he would fair compared to Matt Smith. Those questioning him only needed to look at his past episode, The Fires of Pompeii (Season 4, episode 2) to see what a great actor he is. This first trailer already shows that he is going to make it his own, namely with the tie-less/bowtie less outfit in the trailer.

While traveling with Clara they are sure to meet plenty of new and old faces. Some returning friends and foes are Madame Vastra, the Daleks, and the Cybermen with potential new enemies as the cyborg man with the glowing hand, robots, aliens – of course! – and everyone’s favorite: Dinosaurs in London. It is sure to be a fascinating season just like any other when a new doctor makes an appearance.

Will you be joining the Doctor and Clara on this new adventure “into darkness”?

Doctor Who Season 8 premieres August 23rd, 2014.
