The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: 40th Anniversary Limited Edition “Black Maria” Box Set Announced

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 40th Anniversary "Black Maria" Limited Edition Box Set Announced

Marking the 40th anniversary of one of the most beloved horror movie’s of all time, Dark Sky Films is happy to announce they have a special remastered Blu-ray box set that is one of a kind. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is receiving the royal treatment with an all-new 4K digital transfer and newly created 7.1 surround sound mix, which was supervised by director Tobe Hooper himself. Find out what special goodies are in store after the break.

From Nosferatu to Pyscho to Halloween to Jaws to Scream to Saw to Paranormal Activity, it goes without saying, horror is one of the most evolving genres in cinema history. Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacreyes his version the “chain” and “saw” are two separate words – changed the horror game back in 1974. It is by far my favorite horror movie of all time. It’s disgustingly disturbing and terrifically horrifying.

Now that we have reached the 40th anniversary of one of the most iconic horror films of our time – we can forget about last year’s little hiccup and the one with McConaughey too – this box set only feels appropriate. This is the first time The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has released on Blu-Ray, and it’s about damn time if you ask me. To transfer the movie to 4K digital, this release marks the only transfer of the film to go back to the original 16mm A/B rolls, the actual film that rolled through the cameras.
