According to multiple reports, and the Marin County Sheriff, Robin Williams was found dead today in his Tiburon home today. Investigators are still confirming the cause of death, but the coroner states in a press release issued from the sheriff’s office that Robin Williams has passed due to “suicide due to asphyxia.” Robin Williams passed at the age of 63.
Williams was last reported seen alive entering his home with his wife around this past Sunday night. This morning, a 9-1-1 call was placed and emergency personnel rushed to the scene to find Williams unresponsive and not breathing. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter this afternoon.
A rep issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly saying,
“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
Robin Williams’ wife, Susan Schneider, has issued her own statement:
“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is hoped that our focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
Today is a sad, sad day. Robin Williams won an Oscar for his supporting role in Good Will Hunting; he was also nominated for his leading roles in The Fisher King, Dead Poets Society, and Good Morning, Vietnam. Other notable work includes the TV series Mork & Mindy (1978-1982), Walt Disney’s Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, Happy Feet, Jack, Patch Adams, What Dreams May Come, and Night at the Museum.
Recently, Williams could be seen in the one season run of The Crazy Ones, co-starring with Sarah Michelle Gellar. His recent film releases includes Boulevard and The Angriest Man in Brooklyn. Currently, Williams’ upcoming projects yet to released are Merry Friggin’ Christmas, Absolutely Anything, and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. Whether Williams finished filming his scenes for Night at the Museum are unconfirmed. Mrs. Doubtfire 2 has been in pre-production, but will most likely not go through as planned due to this unfortunate tragedy.
Current Robin Williams movies on Netflix Instant Streaming includes The Big Wedding, World’s Greatest Dad, Get Bruce, The Birdcage, Jumanji, The Fisher King, Hook, and Popeye. World’s Greatest Dad may be a touchy subject at this time, but it is still a good entry in his filmography.
