It was confirmed at Gamescom 2014 that there will be another Silent Hill game. Only this time around the illustrious horror video game franchise will be co-produced by none other than Hideo Kojima (creator of Metal Gear Solid) himself alongside Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy; Pacific Rim). And to top it off, star of The Walking Dead Norman Reedus will be the main character. Learn more after the break.
What you see before you is the ending to a playable teaser that PlayStation has graciously provided gamers in the PSN store for free. They dubbed it P.T. before Gamescom and gave fans a sneak preview as to what the tone will be for the upcoming Silent Hills. As you can see in the end, the content within the teaser is in no way in relations to the actual game itself once it is released. But if this is the tone they are going for, then I’m sure Silent Hill fans will be ecstatic to return to the crooked horror town.
And how about that Norman Reedus showing up out of nowhere. The man is dominating the horror game on AMC’s The Walking Dead and is sure to convert a few non-Silent Hill fans to check this title out. I’ve never played any of the games myself, but I have seen both movies. And as much as the world intrigues me, I don’t know if I can handle the sheer terror of these games.
Guillermo del Toro’s specialty is in creatures, we’ve seen his craftmanship and creativity time and time again in Hellboy, Mimic, and Pan’s Labyrinth. This makes him the perfect addition to the series. I can only imagine the sick and twisted monsters he’ll be coming up with for this new nightmare. And matching him up against Kojima’s talents in storytelling and gameplay, Silent Hills should be a wild ride.
