Adventure Time: The Complete Fourth Season (Pendleton Ward) – A human boy named Finn and his best friend Jake, a magical, talking dog, set out on their adventures in the magical Land of Ooo. Starring Jeremy Shada, John DiMaggio, Hynden Walch, and Tom Kenny

If there is one thing to be said about Adventure Time it is that the show continues to get better the longer it remains on air. I just started watching this series this year after Comic-Con and have thoroughly enjoyed my time. Adventure Time has this magical balance of being a childlike cartoon, but infuses adult themes that both parents and kids can relate to. Season 4 is a fantastic addition to your collection and it would be hard for fans to be disappointed. Special features included are:

  • Audio commentaries for all 26 episodes
  • Distant Bands: The Music of Adventure Time

The Following: The Complete Second Season (Kevin Williamson) – A brilliant and charismatic, yet psychotic serial killer communicates with other active serial killers and activates a cult of believers following his every command. Starring Kevin Bacon, James Purefoy, and Shawn Ashmore

It’s great to see Kevin Bacon finding a home on network television. His career has really taken off lately in random character portrayals in film, but The Following has been really good to Mr. Bacon. Although I dislike procedurals, but I find the suspense in this show to capture my attention and sets itself up on a different path than many other shows on television. It’s not the strongest series out there, but it is worth an attempt to dive into. Special features included are:

  • Following Marcos Siega (Featurette)
  • The Religion of Joe Carroll (Featurette)
  • The Joe Mask (Featurette)
  • Bonded by a Common Foe (Featurette)
  • Inside The Following (15 mini-Featurettes)
  • Severed Scenes
  • Season 2 Alternate Ending
  • Comic-Con Panel 2013

Vikings: The Complete Second Season (Michael Hirst) The adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok: the greatest hero of his age. The series tells the saga of Ragnar’s band of Viking brothers and his family as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes… Starring Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen, and Jessalyn Gilsig

I still have yet to see this show, but if you’re looking forward to the third season in 2015, then this is your best bet to get on track. Special features included are:

  • Extended Versions for All Ten Episodes
  • Audio Commentary on “Blood Eagle” featuring Michael Hirst and Gustaf Skarsgard
  • A Warrior Society: Rites of Passage
  • Audio Commentary on “The Lord’s Prayer” featuring Michael Hirst and Gustaf Skarsgard
  • My Family, My Enemy
  • Imagining and Executing Climactic Battles
  • The Viking Sagas – An Interactive Archival Exploration

Rick and Morty: The Complete First Season (Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland) An animated series that follows the exploits of a super scientist and his not so bright grandson. Starring Justin Roiland, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer

I’ve only see a few episodes, but from what I have seen, Rick and Morty is one of the cartoons you must catch up with. If you love Community, Dan Harmon’s storytelling here is just as strong, but absolutely more bizarre and twisted. It has some really strange, dark humor, but the writing is playful and the characters go on some pretty wacky adventures. Special features included are:

  • Episode Commentaries
  • Animatics

American Horror Story: Coven (Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk) An anthology series that centers on different characters and locations, including a haunted house, an insane asylum, a witch coven and a freak show. Starring Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, and Frances Conroy

I’ve only watched the first two episodes of Coven and kind of lost track of time and it fell by the wayside. From what I hear, this season also went way off the rails with its crazy Ryan Murphy antics and ridiculous writing. This is one of those shows I hate/watch, like Season 4 and 5 of Glee or Season 3 and 4 of Heroes. Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, and Angela Bassett are great additions to the show though. Special features included are:

  • Zombie Halloween
  • Enter the Coven
  • Meet Ms. Nola

Bates Motel: The Complete Second Season (Anthony Cipriano) A modern re-imagining and prequel to the movie Psycho. This story begins with the earlier years of a teenage Norman Bates and his mother Norma who live in an old house overlooking the adjoining motel which they are renovating. The house and hotel both come with secrets of their own as does the new town which the Bates’ now call home.  Starring Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, and Max Thieriot

I really need to catch up on this show. Another one of those series that has escaped me. There is a third season expected for 2015, so that’s a good sign for fans. Special features included are:

  • Deleted Scenes
  • Origins of a Psycho: Inside Bates Motel
  • After Hours: Season Two Premiere
  • After Hours: Season Two Finale
