Our D23 Expo 2015 cosplay photo gallery from Saturday presented cosplayers from all around strut their stuff as their favorite Disney/Star Wars/Marvel/Pixar characters. Now see them all let loose and show off their best silly faces or poses. Cosplayers posing In-character make for some really awesome shots, but I find the magic really happens when they act less serious and play toward their own personalities as the people behind the costumes.
I hope you enjoy these funny cosplay outtakes. Credits are at the bottom of the post below the gallery.

D23 Expo 2015 has come and gone. Some major announcements from Lucasfilm, Pixar, Walt Disney Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Marvel Studios were made and the attendance was fairly high for being only the fourth D23 Expo put on by the House of Mouse. Although there was a lot of traffic and more to see and do this year, I was overwhelmed with how few cosplayers there were. But I didn’t let that discourage me. I sought out the best and most creative for you fine folk to share with you today.
A lot has changed at the Walt Disney Company since the last D23 Expo in 2013. The Lucasfilm acquisition was less than a year old, Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe had just kicked off with Iron Man 3, and Avengers: Age of Ultron was just announced at San Diego Comic-Con. Since then we’ve had a new live action Cinderella movie; only one new Pixar film (Inside Out); Frozen became a worldwide phenomenon; a talking raccoon and a sentient tree stole the hearts of millions; and a new Star Wars trilogy was announced along with various one-off films in-between the trilogy entries. With all this in mind, I expected a lot of fun, creative cosplayers to be out and about. Here are some of my reflections:

Just when you thought enough was enough, I’ve got a special Comic-Con 2015 cosplay outtakes photo gallery I know you will enjoy. While many photographers at SDCC prefer cosplayers to do action poses or some kind of stance in character, I like to bring a little more excitement into the mix by taking them out of character. And as much as their wonderful costumes speak to each individual’s own personality and tastes, my idea behind asking cosplayers to make a funny face or to do a silly pose is to bring a little more human element to their characters.
It’s also about letting cosplayers have more fun in their day and not having to do the same old pose. I’m not sure how it actually started, but I noticed when I began asking this of cosplayers that they were more than happy to oblige. I definitely enjoy seeing what everyone can come up with on the fly because each time is different. Certain characters such as the Survey Corps from Attack on Titan only have a few poses. Do you want to see Batman doing the same grim face or have him sticking his tongue out? Cinderella giving a stink face? No problem. Or how about Captain American taking a selfie? Asking cosplayers to do something out of the ordinary really opens the doors to their own creativity.
And that’s just my two cents. TL;DR? I want to give cosplayers the opportunity to be themselves and to have fun. That’s the point of this crazy madness of pop culture conventions, right? Make the fandom your own and have a blast doing it. I hope you enjoy the cosplay outtakes!

Whoa, we’re half way there. Saturday marks the beginning of the end. There’s still so much to do and see, and yet you know in the back of your mind that this glorious playground of geekdom ends the following day. So I did my best to find as many unique and fun cosplayers as I could despite my busy schedule.
Two goals for the weekend were met in one day as I wanted to catch up with the Reel Guise team, who do a wonderful group cosplay of The Walking Dead, and I also wanted to stumble upon a large meetup group of a large quantity of cosplayers. #AchievementsUnlocked
Day reflections:

And on the third day, Easter Day, WonderCon cosplayers did not rest. They were not finished with their work as one final day of the con was left to explore and enjoy. There were a good handful of creative Easter Bunny/Jesus cosplay parodies roaming the Anaheim Convention Center. And like Saturday at WonderCon, from a legion of Deadpools to Warrior Disney Princesses, Sunday was also full of really inspiring fans who put in a lot of time into their costumes. Check out our photo gallery after the break. Continue reading

Observations that occurred:
And for those who are reading this for the first time and did not check out our cosplay photo gallery from Saturday at WonderCon 2015: you’ll notice a lot of cosplayers doing goofy poses or making funny, derp faces. I try to make it fun for cosplayers to breakaway from their action poses and bring in a humanizing factor to represent them as fans and people rather than just random people dressing up in costume. This series of abnormal poses has created some really fun character moments for both cosplayers and fans alike. I hope you enjoy!
