In lieu of the recent leaked teaser for Avengers: Age of Ultron earlier today, Marvel has released the official trailer in beautiful hi-definition early. The trailer was originally suppose to air during next week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. After the jump, check out the first footage of one of the most anticipated films of 2015 along with over 100 hi-res screencaps.
Seeing a fully, high resolution version of the trailer, I could follow along more closely, and there were a few things that I noticed in addition to my original overview. For starters, just from this teaser alone, Age of Ultron looks far more gorgeous than The Avengers. Joss Whedon has really stepped up his game, but that could also be due to a higher production budget. The detail in Ultron’s (James Spader) design is absolutely stunning and terrifying. And the attention to detail in the Hulk’s skin and hair is incredibly well done.
There is a flashback with Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans), which could callback to his struggle against Hydra and Baron Wolfgang von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann). If you pay attention to some of the details in the background of the scene with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), it looks like she may have stumbled into Ultron’s lair. It sort of looks like Paul Bettany who plays Vision at the piano in the scene with the ballerinas, but I can’t quite make the person out. Colonel James Rhodes aka War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) can also be seen clearly in a short snippet of the trailer. Andy Serkis appears in his unknown role. And at the end we see Cap’s hand next to his broken shield.
Although it’s funny that Marvel can take the leak as a joke and blame Hydra, you know the person who smuggled the trailer on the Internet early won’t be laughing when they’re caught and fired.
Here’s the Ultron monologue, along with the other dialogue from Tony Stark and Black Widow:
“I’m gonna show you something beautiful. Everyone screaming for mercy. You want to protect the world, but you don’t want it to change. You’re all puppets, tangled in strings. Strings…” – Ultron
“This is the end. The end of the path I started us on.” – Tony Stark
“Nothing lasts forever.” – Black Widow
“Now I’m free. There are no strings on me.” – Ultron
