First Trailer for ‘Furious 7’ Has Strength in Family (184 Screenshots)

Fast and Furious 7 Trailer

The big moment for Fast and Furious fans have all been waiting for, the first trailer for Furious 7 has arrived. Alongside an extended look at a pretty slick action sequence, this new trailer brings a strong message of family at its core. All the pieces of the franchise puzzle have now come full circle, with Jason Statham up against Dom and his crew. Watch the trailer and check out over 150 hi-res screenshots after the break.

Who knew horror director James Wan (Saw; The Conjuring; Insidious) could direct an action blockbuster? Although Wan has mastered the art of atmospheric horror, it would appear he has the ability to mirror the style of the Fast and Furious franchise. From the looks of things, everything looks like it came together smoothly after the unfortunate passing of Paul Walker. But if this Ian Shaw (Statham) is suppose to be some mega badass, it sure looks like he’s getting tossed around a lot.

With all of the crazy stunts, fast cars, exotic locations, beautiful women, and mumblings of family, this trailer has everything you would come to expect, which begs to ask if there is anything here that is really compelling enough to be different than the previous entries? I enjoyed the last two films and audiences will show up in droves to support the late Paul Walker, which I respect and can understand, but honestly these movies feel like they have found a certain comfort level that is limiting the franchise’s appeal. But it’s only the first trailer, we’ll have to see where they go from here.

It also seems to be a running trend in movie trailers to show an extended clip at the beginning and then cut to montage of random scenes. I don’t like it. Who in their right might would want to see a full clip without context? I’m sure the experience is a lot better on the big screen, but I would wager to bet that most people saw this trailer first on their phone or computer.
