Latest ‘Into the Woods’ Trailer Features Giants, Magic, and Meryl Streep Singing (105 Screenshots)

Into the Woods Movie Trailer 2

Disney has just released the second trailer for the highly anticipated, Broadway adaptation of Into the Woods. Directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago), Into the Woods brings together some of the most iconic Brothers Grimm fairy tales to life, in musical fashion. This latest trailer gives us a preview of the music, the plot, and more. Check it out after the break.

Expanding on the teaser trailer, we are given more details about the narrative and the characters here. We of course know half of these classic characters’ stories, but the Baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt), along with the Witch (Meryl Streep) are new to this fairy tale land. The trailer hints at how they are all connected and does a good job at keeping most of the narrative a secret. I prefer it that way. I would rather watch it all unfold on the big screen than a trailer telling me the play-by-pay details.

From what we’ve seen from the character and costume design and the set decor, it looks like your typical fairy tale setting – a castle, dark woods, and a cottage. But is there more to this world than that? It would be pretty unimaginative for a musical about fairy tales. Speaking of, Meryl sounds pretty decent, better here than her performance in Mamma Mia. I am looking forward to Into the Woods, and I hope Marshall is able to make these characters his own and stray away enough from the traditional fairy tale story.
