After the recent departure of director Josh Trank from the second Star Wars Anthology film, speculation began as to who would take his place. Not only are there two directors in the running, reportedly, but also the new Anthology entry will focus on the story of Boba Fett and Han Solo. Many Star Wars fan boys’ and girls’ wet dreams are about to come true if this rumor turns out to be accurate. Learn more about this exciting rumor and more after the break.
Early last month, The Wrap had “learned” that the second Star Wars Anthology film from Lucasfilm would tell the tale of Boba Fett’s origin story. Adding even more evidence to this new claim by Schmoes Know. But as mentioned above, now it won’t just center around Boba, but also everyone’s favorite smuggler, Han Solo. Their sources are also telling them that this new story will fall between Episodes III and IV, just like Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. Chewbacca, Lando, and another bounty hunter known as Bossk will also take part in this adventure.
Some pretty wild news, which we can absolutely take with a grain of salt, but the directing choices are even more interesting. The Schmoes are also stating that Jon Favreau and Matthew Vaughn are the two directors lined up to potentially take on this project for a 2018 release. Both filmmakers were said to have been up for the task of directing Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which we now has been filled by J.J. Abrams.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! Even more rumors have churned out of this mill as the Schmoes’ sources also state that the third Anthology film will focus on Yoda.
I hate rumors. They get tossed around without anyone feeling the repercussions if proven false. When big newspapers print something based on anonymous sources and it turns out wrong, they typically come with a retraction. When have you ever seen a blog write up a retraction for a story they purported? Reliability doesn’t go out the window for them because news travels so fast online that no one notices. Websites keep getting them clicks and move on with their lives. It’s hilarious because I’ve spouted off random April Fools’ Day stories and two surprisingly enough have turned out to be true.
I’m glad that the site is reporting it as a rumor rather than actually stating the “news” to be fact, unlike some websites out there. But I won’t believe this until I see it from Disney or Lucasfilm. I can definitely entertain the possibility of all of these ideas coming to fruition. Everyone loves Han and Boba Fett, so why not explore their rivalry? Favreau and Vaughn are pretty much wrapped on their current works and could be up for a 2018 release. And Yoda’s origins would be interesting to check out and could delve into more mythology of the Jedi and the Force.
What say you people of the Internet? Do these rumors sound legit? Do you want to see these projects out in theaters or should Lucasfilm focus on more original stories from original characters?
