“Tiger & Bunny” Spin-off “DOUBLE DECKER! DOUG & KIRILL” to Debut at Crunchyroll Expo 2018

Double Decker! Doug and Kirill premiere

In anticipation of Crunchyroll Expo coming to San Jose on September 1-3, it was revealed that the first two episodes of “Double Decker! Doug & Kirill” would make their big debut. Announced earlier this year as a spin-off from Sunrise’s 2011 anime series “Tiger & Bunny, the series is set to take place in the same universe based on this new dynamic duo Doug and Kirill. Read more after the jump.

While “Tiger& Bunny” took place in a re-imagined New York called Sternbild City where certain people with powers called “NEXT” became superheroes such as Tiger and Bunny, Doug and Kirill will be a traditional crime fighting team without any trademark superpowers. How they will handle villains in a superpowered world without abilities of their own should bring a fresh twist to this beloved universe.

The series will be directed by Furuta Takeshi, a veteran to the anime world who had a hand in the original “Tiger & Bunny” series as well as notable such series as “Uta no Prince-sama,” “Mobile Suit Gundam,” and most recently “Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments.” Satoshi Mikami and Kouhei Amasaki will be voicing the two main characters Doug and Kirill, respectively. This will be both actors’ first time voicing main characters. Mikami can be heard as the voice of Ocelot in the popular video game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and is also the dubbed Japanese voice for many of Benedict Cumberbatch’s characters for Sherlock Holmes in “Sherlock” and Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Amasaki has provided his voice for the characters of Neito Monoma in “My Hero Academia” and Takaki Uno in “Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.”

No other information has been released about the plot or cast for “Double Decker! Doug & Kirill” at this time, but if it’s anything like “Tiger & Bunny” then it is sure to be full of action packed humor.

Crunchyroll Expo hits the San Jose Convention Center this September 1-3. Tickets are now available.
