It’s a fact that Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) will be in a more prominent role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but there has been much speculation as to whether or not the expert marksman would be showing up in Captain America: Civil War. To say I’m excited about 20th Century Fox‘s attempt at rebooting the Fantastic Four is one of the biggest understatements I could make this year. With that said, the first teaser trailer does little to grow my anticipation with how underwhelming it is. Utilizing tactics from brooding superhero films, the X-Men franchise, and Interstellar, the Fantastic Four reboot has a long way to go before I am convinced of its necessity. Marvel Studios put on a little show and dance number earlier today in Los Angeles at the El Capitan theater where they revealed their plans for Phase 3 of their Cinematic Universe. Along with Ant-Man, which is in production now, Marvel has confirmed Captain America 3, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Thor 3, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Inhumans, and a two-part Avengers 3 conclusion. It’s been 10 years since Pixar’s The Incredibles made their big screen debut, and now Walt Disney Animation Studios has taken a crack at the superhero genre with their acquired Marvel Entertainment property Big Hero 6. Loosely adapted from the comic source material, this animated feature infuses that heartfelt Disney sensibility with Marvel‘s action-oriented storytelling. A Deadpool movie has been through production hell for years – they even shot test footage – until now. Twentieth Century Fox’s big announcement last week has had Marvel comics fans celebrating in the streets, but a recent development may put a stop to that ruckus.
