The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey Trailer

Exactly ten years ago from the day before yesterday, the United States was introduced to Peter Jackson’s visionary experience known as The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring that begun an epic trilogy come to life only envisioned in dreams. Almost one year from now, Peter Jackson will bring to the big-screen the story that started it all, J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. A very enriching and beautiful trailer has just hit the Internet and it feels like we are being revisited by an old friend. Continue reading

First Look: The Dwarves of The Hobbit

Pre-Comic-Con, images of individual and groups of dwarves from Peter Jackson’s upcoming film The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again have been sprouting up. Now I’m not quite sure if someone Photoshopped all of them together or if this is an official image, but I really like this group shot of the infamous 12 dwarves from the classic J.R.R. Tolkien book The Hobbit.

There is a really great sense of place with their costume design. They all seem to fit perfectly within Peter Jackson’s Midde-Earth realm from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Could Mr. Jackson be setting up for another Oscar run? Perhaps, but I’m not going to hold my breath. With the way Harry Potter was split up, I don’t put too much faith in movies that are part of a whole. What do you think of the 12 dwarves abound to take back their gold from the evil dragon Smaug?

[HuffPo] From left to right, we welcome Jed Brophy as Nori, Dean O’Gorman as Fili, Mark Hadlow as Dori, James Nesbitt as Bofur, Peter Hambleton as Gloin, Graham McTavish as Dwalin, Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, Ken Stott as Balin, John Callen as Oin, Stephen Hunter as Bombur, William Kircher as Bifur, Adam Brown as Ori and Aidan Turner as Kili.

Danger: Hobbits at Work?

Those silly Hobbits………Looks like they are rebuiling their little Hobbiton for The Hobbit movie. If you didn’t know they are splitting the book into two different movies, but filming them both at the same time for about 370 days straight or something like that. Here are the pictures from TheOneRing.net that showed the little village being erected, click to enlarge them:

Hugo Weaving Is Elrond in The Hobbit

The Hobbit Elrond

Guillermo Del Toro confirms to a BBC radio show this week that Hugo Weaving will return as Elrond in his new film The Hobbit, which will be split into two films for sake of length.

Regarding Weaving:

“Yes [and] Ian McKellen is back, [and] Hugo Weaving in the roles they originated in the trilogy.”

Listen to the whole interview here, and Del Toro also mentions of no plans on Hellboy 3 and casting for Frankenstein.
