We’ll be live blogging the entire ceremony so you can catch up and not miss a beat. With host Neil Patrick Harris on the scene, we can expect a few song and dance routines. With the big show no less than a week away, I must fulfill TTRC’s due diligence in reporting my picks in who I believe will walk away with Oscars this weekend. The 87th Annual Academy Awards are pretty stacked this year, with the nominees closer in competition than of recent years past. Awards is continuing to get underway with the announcement of the 72nd Golden Globe Awards nominations this morning at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Kate Beckinsale, Peter Krause, Paula Patton, and Jeremy Piven did the honors as they were welcomed by Hollywood Foreign Press Association president, Theo Kingma and Miss Golden Globe, Greer Grammer. Official ‘Selma’ Trailer Stands Up for Civil Rights [131 Screenshots]

We’ve not heard too much about director Ava DuVernay’s upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. biopic starring David Oyelowo, but it couldn’t be any more timely. Seeing how it makes its theatrical release this Christmas, this first trailer is a very strong debut for Selma. Not only does it capture the emotional weight of the civil rights movement of the ’60s, it brings a certain level of perspective seeing how these events only took place 50 years ago.
