Say Hello to David in ‘Prometheus’ Viral Marketing

Michael Fassbender David Prometheus

There is something eerie about Michael Fassbender and having him play the role of an android. In Prometheus, his portrayal of David feels like the perfect fit for him. An incredible viral marketing video has been uploaded to help us understand where David comes from and how he will relate to Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel.

I love viral marketing. Something as simple as placing a fake video on the Internet that gives the audience a taste of whats in store without giving anything away is commercial genius if it’s done well – just check out what Pixar did with Ken from Toy Story 3.

Since this isn’t a trailer, and shows no footage of Prometheuswhatsoever, I believe I have the right to watch this viral marketing piece. I did watch the teaser forthe film back in December 2011, and I felt really bad about it, but hell it’s not the end of the world. It’s a prequel to the Alien quadrilogy, how could I resist?

It’s been quite some time since I’ve been able to taste something visually new from a movie I have been dying to see – and what I see here is magic. Michael Fassbender is just simply incredible. He is a completely underrated actor who has been on the up and up. Watch the viral marketing for Prometheus below:

As I said, Fassbender is the absolute best actor forDavid. If you’ve seen him in Shame, there is just a dark place he can channel where he can shut down all emotion and yet make you feel for the character he is portraying. Damn you Michael Fassbender and your amazing talents inside and out – if you’ve seen Shame you know what I mean.

Prometheus is scheduled for release June 8, 2012 in 2D, 3D, Read D 3D, and IMAX 3D.
