Some shiny new character posters for Marvel Studios’ The Avengers have been floating around lately and what better way to spread joy than to deliver them to you right here! The whole gang can be found after the break.
Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, and Agent Maria Hill can all be seen below, but wait, WHERE’S AGENT COULSON?! (Click on any of the images to enlarge to full capacity.)
Now I may have not been watching the trailers for The Avengersdue to my personal challenge, but I do in fact know Agent Coulson has played a pretty vital role as a character seen throughout the Marvel movie universe. I want an Agent Coulson poster dammit!
With all of their powers combined, each poster kind of trickles down to form the header image above, representing a full spread of every poster. There’s a lot of action going on in them, and visually they are appealing because it looks like they all having something to do, but none of these are really telling anything about the story. But did we really expect posters for The Avengers to tell us a story other than a brooding Thor?
There is some slight copy and paste work going on behind the main subject in certain posters. You can see the Hulk behind Iron Man is the same just sized down from the poster he inhabits with Hawkeye. The same goes for Captain America too, hiding behind Black Widow.
Besides Coulson not getting his own poster, where is Loki? If he is to be the main villain in this film, why hasn’t he been given a proper character poster?
With a star studded cast reprising all of their roles from the five previous Marvel films, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jeremy Renner with Colbie Smulders and CLARK GREGG!
The Avengers debut in theaters May 4, 2012 in 3D, Real D 3D and IMAX 3D.
