Either Now You See Me will be a truly enjoyable hit or this trailer is pulling one on us. A new full-length trailer has debuted for the Louis Leterrier’s “magical” heist movie. Although it delivers many of the same clips from the first teaser trailer, it expands a little further as to how Mark Ruffalo fits in to all of this. Watch the all new theatrical trailer for Now You Seem Me and see if you can unveil the truth.
Director Louis Leterrier doesn’t have the hottest streak in the business, but his films have not been complete duds. Working on such films as The Incredible Hulk, The Transporter, and Clash of the Titans, Leterrier has a good eye for action but has not been able to wow audiences with his storytelling. Now You See Me comes off as an interesting mix of Ocean’s Eleven and The Prestige. I hope I’m right. If those two movies can combine elements in a way that The Four Horsemen can pull off entertaining heists using magic, I am fully on board.

I like what’s going on here in this trailer. We get a good sense of skill these magicians have, we understand that there is something not legal going on, and Mark Ruffalo is on the chance. However, who is Morgan Freeman, what’s his motive to helping Michael Caine? The beautiful Melanie Laurent also appears in this trailer and she seems to be incahoots with Ruffalo. There is a lot of build up leading up to this “grand” trick and I hope that the screenwriters (Boaz Yakin, Edward Ricourt, and Ed Solomon) and Leterrier can live up to the promise. This trailer reveals a little too much on the magic and action elements and not enough on the fun playful side that I believe these Four Horsemen are capable of. I wish they gave us a little better taste of what their story is. Understandably, the trailer is trying hard not to reveal the whole truth and shroud the movie in mystery, but in my mind, I think audiences need just a little more oomph to lock in a fair amount of interest. I’m also glad, and assuming, they haven’t show all their tricks up their sleeve and have left a lot of the more exciting magic for us to enjoy during the movie.

Now You See Me pits an elite FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against “The Four Horsemen,” a super-team of the world’s greatest illusionists. “The Four Horsemen” pull off a series of daring heists against corrupt business leaders during their performances, showering the stolen profits on their audiences while staying one step ahead of the law.
The Four Horsemen are comprised of Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Ellis, Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves, Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney, and Dave Franco as Jack Wilder. This is quite the eclectic cast and I look forward to what kind of dynamic these actors will generate.
