The Conjuring is no doubt one of the most frightening movies you will have seen in the last decade. James Wan has elevated himself to a level of horror that many directors only dream of. Scaring up over $300 million worldwide at the box office on a $20 million budget is quite the accomplishment. But there are plenty of facts aside from the box office numbers that make the production of The Conjuring much more interesting. After the break, learn more about the film and how you can win a Blu-ray combo pack.
For those who have not seen The Conjuring yet, it is HIGHLY recommended that you stop what you’re doing and go see it immediately. Here is a brief spoiler free synopsis:
Based on a true story, the movie tells the horrifying account of how famed paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were summoned to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse which they recently bought. In fighting this powerful demonic being, the Warrens find themselves in the middle of the most terrifying case of their lives.
Now on to the fun facts:
This one is a given if you pay attention to the credits. However, I had no idea Wan was from Australia; that’s pretty interesting. How much of the horror genre will he take with him into the making of Fast and Furious 7?
The rating of this film was revealed during WonderCon this year in Anaheim, which is still a fascinating fun fact to ponder. It’s funny how films like Jaws and Gremlins rated PG at the time of their releases.
Terrifying incidences are not uncommon with horror movie productions, but it is still freaky to dwell on if you’re about to shoot one. At least six people associated with The Exorcist died either during production or prior to the release of the movie.
Witches be crazy.
One of the most heart pounding scares of the film is so simple that you don’t even see it coming. It’s kind of a shame that they use it for the teaser trailer. Luckily it is still very effective in the movie nonetheless.
Below you’ll find a really neat infographic about the Warrens, the actual paranormal investigators, on which the film is based on as well as The Amityville Horror. Is the sequel here yet? James Wan needs to speed up production of Fast and Furious 7 to get on The Conjuring sequel.
