As much as I enjoyed Gravity (see full review here), I am a little concerned as to how well this will work in home theaters. The way the film is shot is complimented by the big screen experience. But that isn’t to say that Gravity will fail. More than likely this film will do gangbusters on home video, but will the experience be the same?
When you think about how incredible movies like The Dark Knight or The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, that were shot on IMAX cameras, visually on-screen compared to at home the experience is jarring. You don’t get sucked in as much. But those movies offer a more plot driven story. I’ve seen The Avengers, Man of Steel, and 300 in an IMAX theater and they still bring a fun enjoyment at home. So I am hopeful for Gravity.
Gravity is an epic adventure the whole way through and never lets go. Perhaps it will force movie lovers to pursue that home theater renovation they’ve always wanted to install.
The Gravity Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and 2-Disc Standard Definition DVD Special Edition contains the following special features:

The plot of Gravity can read below, courtesy of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment:
Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (Clooney) in command. But on a seemingly routine mission, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalski completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the darkness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
Gravity releases on home video 3D Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, DVD, and On Demand on February 25, 2014.
