Since the first appearance of Grimlock, Transformers fans have been dying to see the first full length trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction. And only one month later we have our wish. In true Michael Bay fashion, this new trailer has all the big explosions that were lacking in Pain & Gain. And for those hoping to see more Optimus Prime and Grimlock action you’re in for a treat. Check out the full trailer after the jump [UPDATED with 111 screenshots].
According to the trailer, a new era has begun; the age of the Transformers is over. Now this narration by Kesley Grammar’s character, Harold Attinger, may elude to the three polarizing films of yesteryear, but it also tells us the state of mind of how the world reacted to the events that took place in Chicago – a tribute billboard makes sure we never forget. Taking audiences several years after Dark of the Moon, the Bayhem will be in full force with a brand new cast featuring Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager and Nicola Peltz as Tessa Yeager, his daughter.
A lot of questions were left unanswered as the previous trailer was just a teaser. And what we gain here is a slightly better grasp of who Cade and Tessa are and what the Autobots have been up to. From the looks of things, everything has been pretty quiet since Chicago and the defeat of Megatron, but there seems to be a government force that is still anti-Transformers. These men in black say that the Transformers are unnecessary anymore, but I would this new threat that tears up Earth says otherwise.
Did you see that?! Optimus Prime bitch slaps Grimlock with his shield. I can’t wait to see how that battle unfolds to the point where Grimlock succeeds and allows Optimus to ride on his back. And of course, like any Bay film, it is heavy with American pride with no less than five flags shown in some fashion i.e. a welder helmet, on the side of a building, on the front porch of the Yeager house, hanging in a barn, and on a billboard. And then we get a glimpse of Stanley Tucci’s character who I would assume will chew up every scene with his incredible acting prowess.

Now there are still no plot details about Transformers: Age of Extinction yet, but from what I gather there is a new big bad in town named Lockdown, a bounty hunter in Transformers lore. I believe he is the bad looking dude with his ship looming behind him. But could there be someone else pulling the strings? Bounty hunters usually work alone and wouldn’t need an army of ships to descend for their target. And the Decepticon whose head turns into a gun asks the question, “Is that Galvatron?” – the evolved version of Megatron who was repaired thanks to Unicron, a planet sized Transformer that devours everything in its path.
With as many questions that these trailers have been successfully raising, I would say Transformers: Age of Extinction is shaping up to be a nice summer blockbuster.
Also starring T.J. Miller, Li Bingbing, Sophia Myles, and Titus Welliver, Transformers: Age of Extinction will hit theaters this summer on June 27.
