Final Trailer for ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’ Unlocks New Secrets (111 Screesnhots)

How to Train Your Dragon 2 Final Trailer

DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox have unveiled the final trailer for How to Train Your Dragon 2. This new HTTYD2 trailer features more dragons, more plot details, and introduces new characters. Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and Toothless’ world is about to get a lot bigger. Watch the trailer after the break.

After a big spoiler in the last trailer, the marketing team decides to go all out and showcase how Stoic the Vast (Gerard Butler) deals with the reveal that Valka (Cate Blanchett) is still alive. Why they continue to push the boundaries on the family aspect and leave nothing to our imagination until the film releases beats me. They could have easily just given us the teaser trailer and let it be. It is beautiful. I bet the filmmakers aren’t too happy about it either. At least the villain, Drago Bludvist (Djimon Hounsou) gets a little more of an introduction in this trailer. This is also the first time we see Eret, Son of Eret played by Kit Harrington.

Regardless of the big reveal of Valka, I am still excited how writer/director Dean DeBlois will expand the mythology and depth to Berk and its beloved characters. There are a lot of new elements at play here – especially those new epic, ginormous water and ice dragons – and the series seems to be headed in a more adult direction, not only with the characters themselves but with the tone of the story. The summer movie season can’t come soon enough!

Here’s the official plot synopsis, courtesy of DreamWorks Animation:

The thrilling second chapter of the epic HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON trilogy brings us back to the fantastical world of Hiccup and Toothless five years after the two have successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snoutlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.

Are you ready to visit Berk and its vikings again this summer?

How to Train Your Dragon 2 arrives in theaters on June 13.
