Joss Whedon Officially Wraps Up 'Avengers Age of Ultron'

With Guardians of the Galaxy making box office magic, that only means one thing: the next Marvel Studios release will be Avengers: Age of Ultron; and it’s done filming! Joss Whedon made the official statement today on the Twitter, where he thanks his cast and crew for their tireless efforts. Check out what Whedon had to say after the break.

It seems so long ago when The Avengers hit theaters back in May 2012. Since then our heroes have grown, taking on new challenges while building the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the better. With each film – Iron Man 3 (my review), Thor: The Dark World (my review), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (my review), and now Guardians of the Galaxy – Marvel Studios continues to dominate cinemas with their brand and we can understand why Joss Whedon is excited to unleash the beast.

After nearly six months of principle photography across the world – South Africa, Italy, South Korea, and England – someone should get this man a beer. So what’s next he asks? GIVE US THE MOVIE! But in reality, the post-production fun will begin with editing, animations, sound, mixing, and all that good stuff.

The whole gang is back, which includes Robert Downy Jr. as Tony Stark aka Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers aka Captain America, Mark  Ruffalo as Bruce Banner aka The Incredible Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, Scarlett Johnasson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

There is no official plot synopsis for Age of Ultron, but expect to see new faces in action such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, and James Spader as Ultron.

A lot of changes to our characters have been made since then and we will see how that all culminates next spring. Ultron is one of The Avengers most fearsome enemies of all time and it will be incredible to see it come to life on the big screen.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to release May 1st, 2015.
