Hundreds of screaming fans are eagerly anticipating the Blu-ray/DVD release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on the March 7 midnight release. Lionsgate’s Home Entertainment has upped the ante and partnered with Walmarts across the nation to bring fans tributes from the 75th Annual Hunger Games. Cast members such as Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen) and Lynn Cohen (Mags from District 4) from the newest movie will be visiting stores nationwide on Thursday, March 6 for the home video release. Not only is Catching Fire the highest grossing film of 2013 domestically, but it is also the first film with a female lead to top the annual box office since The Exorcist in 1973. Kudos to Lionsgate. It was only a few months ago when Lionsgate released the teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It’s mysterious and gives viewers a good taste of the darker subject matter from the books by Suzanne Collins. Exactly what a teaser should be. We weren’t introduced to too many new characters aside from Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman), but now that these Quarter Quell posters have debuted, fans of the books will be pleasantly delighted to see their favorite characters come to life. Apparently I haven’t been paying too much attention to the marketing for The Hunger Games otherwise I would have known there was a viral marketing campaign to unveil the latest poster. One hundred websites were given 100 pieces to a puzzle that would reveal the newest one-sheet for The Hunger Games. What could be the next epic trilogy or teen crazed Twilight-like fad, The Hunger Games movie is looking to be a little something of both. The book trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins, and adapted by Gary Ross is set to the tone of a post-apocalyptic world formerly known as North America. Twelve districts annually send out teenagers to fight in a televised battle where only one can survive. Lionsgate has released eight new character posters introducing you to the main cast.
