Last night’s 86th Annual Academy Awards, held inside the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, brought together the biggest names in cinema for the glitziest night of the year. While the excitement inside was placed on who would win Ocsar gold, all eyes were focused on the stars dressed to the nines on the red carpet prior to the big show. We saw many trends and beautiful ensembles this year, but there were a few that truly stood out. After the jump, check out the 10 Best Dressed Men and Women of the Oscars last night.
There were so many beautiful looks on the red carpet it seems unfair to just pick ten. Here are eight honorable mentions I wanted to make sure you did not overlook. The glamorous eight includes: Anne Hatthaway in Gucci, Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture, Charlize Theron in Dior, Jamie Foxx, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong’o in Prada, Meryl Streep, and of course Leonardo DiCaprio.

Olivia Wilde in Valentino – Olivia Wild looked unbelievably stunning in an elegant high-collared, black and white Valentino dress that accentuated her baby bump. To top off her classy look, Olivia donned chandelier diamond earrings with a side-swept updo. Wilde finished off the look with a very dramatic cat eye that perfectly complimented her striking green eyes.
Anna Kendrick in J. Mendel – Kendrick wowed everyone with her sex-appeal on the red carpet last night. Anna decided to steer away from the typical soft and chic approach and went with a slightly more edgier gown. She accomplished the excellent mix of sophisticated and edgy with her asymmetrically lined, peek-a-boo midriff dress from J. Mendel’s Fall 2014 Collection. Anna paired drop earrings and a deep wine colored manicure and clutch. Her sleek updo suited her look to the T.
Cate Blanchett in Armani – It’s hard to decide whether I loved Cate Blanchett’s performance in Blue Jasmine or her red carpet look more. The glowing Oscar winner looked beautiful in a pale gold, embellished Georgio Armani gown. Blanchett complimented her exquisite look with extravagant white opal earrings. Her pale make-up and lightly curled hair topped off the flawlessness of her ensemble. Cate takes home best dressed along with her best actress academy award.
Emma Watson in Vera Wang – Watson was breathtakingly gorgeous in a metallic Vera Wang skirt and top ensemble. Emma has amazed everyone this year on the red carpet, especially at the Golden Globes, with her strikingly different looks. Her accessories are as inspiring as her attire. The “gown” is finished with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels, Solange hoop earrings, an Anita Ko ear cuff, a Chanel giant bow ring, Repossi lilac custom rings, Bouchon upper knuckle ring, triple side diamond Solange rings, Jessica McCormack star hair pins and an Anya Hindmarch clutch. Yes that was a lot to list, but a necessary list at that.
Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein – A vision in white. Naomi was dazzling in a simple cap sleeve Calvin Klein Collection dress with simple black heels from Calvin Klein, as well. Her soft look was accentuated with her sleek, slicked back, straight hair and striking red lips. The silver, diamond necklace and tennis bracelet were a classy touch to a very elegant look.
Jason Sudeikis in Prada – With the alluring Olivia Wilde on his arm, Jason stood out among the pool of blue that kept cropping up on the red carpet. Wearing a navy blue Prada suit, daper is an understatement. His suit was paired well with a white button-up shirt and bow-tie. His ensemble was further accentuated by a scruffy and swiped back look to his hair. This daring look was carried out successfully.
Will Smith in Berluti – Posing with his charming wife Jada, Will Smith looked smashing in a black Berluti suit with silk lapels. Will made a bold statement with a slightly unbuttoned white dress shirt and a granite scarf tucked underneath. It was a breath of fresh air to see something beside a bow-tie coming down the red carpet and Will rocked it flawlessly.
Matthew McConaughey in Dolce & Gabbana – Like Jason and Will, it doesn’t hurt to have a beautiful wife on your arm. With Camila, in a fabulous Gabriela Caden gown, Matthew was nothing less than handsome in a white and black Dolce & Gabbana tux. His jaw-dropping tux was complimented with black Christian Louboutin shoes and a Chopard watch. Never one to disappoint, Matthew wowed us in Dallas Buyers Club and on the red carpet.
Jared Leto in Saint Laurent – Jared must have gotten the memo from Matthew as he donned a white suit jacket with black pants from Saint Laurent. Having an even more dramatic take, Jared paired a deep red bow-tie and white dress shirt. I must say, Jared nailed it. His scruffy face and long, ombre hair went perfectly with his edgy attire.
Chris Hemsworth in David August – It seems as if a beautiful and pregnant wife was the theme of the night. Chris, with his wife Elsa, looked amazing at last night’s Academy Awards. Wearing a black and burgundy David August tuxedo and shirt Chris looked yummy. He paired this stunning tux with Fred Leighton studs and cufflinks and a Mont Blanc watch. A very dapper and eye-catching ensemble that I just loved
