Summer 2010 Trailer, Are You Ready?

With this Summer film season kicking off with Iron Man 2, what better way to get your popcorn ready than with a montage of what’s in store. ScreenRant’s Mike Eisenberg created this little Summer epic video montage for most of the films coming out this Summer. It’s pretty well done and actually pumps you up for the dismal amount of good films coming out this Summer. Check out the montage after the jump!

MOVIE POSTERS!!! Inception, Get Him to the Greek, Buried, The Last Airbender, and Scream 4

Buried

Well a lot of movie posters have been releasing lately and I finally had the time(?)/drive to want to post them. They are actually pretty cool, well except for Scream 4. The others are pretty badass. The Scream 4 tagline, I actually believe, is pretty catchy and smart on their part. Hopefully the franchise has a gameplan in mind without Neve Campbell and putting it all on David Arquette and Courtney Cox. The Last Airbender character posters are pretty spiffy, but I’m sure there are still people out there pissed about the casting, oh well. The new Inception poster was found sometime last week, I believe, and is pretty Chris Nolan if I do say so. Nothing too revealing, but just grabs your attention barely. Nolan is very minimalistic with his posters, but something about them are just really enjoyable. Buried has a really daring poster with very little to show, but a whole lot of engagement. Little do people know about this movie, but they will now after this poster. I find it very well done and frightening for a poster. Well done lads. Finally there is also, Get Him to the Greek, starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. I think this poster is trying to give The Hangover vibe, although the movie is nothing like The Hangover, the poster sure makes you want to believe it and perhaps fool audiences.

Check them all out after the jump!

503rd Post!

Apparently I have breached over my 500th post without realizing this. Well I suppose I’ve come along way since my first post back on June 3, 2009. Almost a year since I started with this thing and I’d say I have surprisingly been through a lot of changes. Became a contributing writer for 3 websites, had an internship, quit facebook for 2 months, worked retail again, saw 365 movies in less than a year, gained a new great internship and finally have a paying job. Wonder what would have happened if I never started this thing. Who knows?

Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2, At What Cost?

Recently Adam McKay, the writer/director of Anchorman, tweeted that Paramount has passed up the opportunity to budget Anchorman 2.

“So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.”

Along with that “sad” news, Ben Stiller tweeted that Zoolander 2 was being passed up as well by Paramount.

“Ron Burgundy and Derek Zoolander looking to appear in sequels. Both men destitute, without means or intellect to fund their own comebacks.”

More developing news on these films have come into play whether these sequels can actually get produced for the right price.

Will We See District 8?

Empire has caught up with Sharlto Copley about the possibility of a District 9 sequel with director Neill Blomkamp, in fact, from what he tells Empire is that there may be a prequel in the works. I’m sure it’s not going to be called Distrcit 8, but perhaps that got your attention anyways.

Movie Review: A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

Movie Review A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010

There is a time and place for everything, but a remake of an honestly good horror film that isn’t too dated and conceptually still scary is pretty unnecessary. Now if they were to remake A Nightmare On Elm Street with the intent of being more creative and bring a unique vision that could have improved the original story making it more horrifying, than yes, I’m all for that. Alas, this did not happen and was brought a lackluster of a film lacking any imagination, depth or even a solid story. Continue reading

Greatest Duet Ever Performing “Total Eclipse of the Heart”

On Lopez tonight last week, one of the greatest collaborations ever to happen to music exploded on to television with the duet of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” performed by William Shatner and the “Susan Boyle” of Taiwan, Lin Yu Chun. This is probably perhaps one of the best songs performances ever, EVER.

Smurfs Beware! Gargamel is Here!

The first official photo of Hank Azaria as Gargamel in Sony Pictures Animation/Columbia Pictures’ big screen CGI/live action hybrid 3D adaptation of The Smurfs has been released on ComingSoon.net. I think it is pretty hilarious that this film is underway and looks very believable in a sense that this was a cartoon character. The whole synopsis sounds to me like the movie Enchanted meets Alvin and the Chipmunks. I can’t wait to see where this film ends up when a trailer hits.

The Smurfs will be released August 3, 2011 with voices and acting from Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, Anton Yelchin, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Paul Reubens, John Oliver, Kenan Thompson, B.J. Novak, Jeff Foxworthy, Wolfgang Puck and Gary Basaraba.

Watch Carl Erik Rinsch’s The Gift

Philips recently released Carl Erik Rinsch’s futuristic action thriller short film The Gift. It is about a robotic manservant who flees the police. Rinsch is not only Ridley Scott’s protege, but also a commercial director for Scott’s company RSA.

Rinsch’s name as he was originally tapped to direct a prequel/remake of Alien, but Fox got Ridley Scott to helm the project himself instead. Rinsch’s involvement, after seeing this, would have been pretty interesting to watch. Rinsch’s The Gift shows an amazing sense of imagination, visual effects artistry and composition.

You can enjoy his short film after the jump!

Thor Suits Up In His First Official Photo

A first official look of Chris Hemsworth suited up in the Thor armor has surfaced thanks to Yahoo! Movies. Looks like they are keeping true to the comic book design while still grounding it to the real world and not so animated. This is surprisingly the first picture we’ve seen from the shooting of Thor since it has been shooting for quite a while. You can see the Lightening God in action next year, May 6, 2011 with Natalie Portman and Sir Anthony Hopkins as well.
