It has been confirmed by Variety and Latino Review that Josh Brolin has been officially cast as Thanos for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s incredible to believe that the Marvel Cinematic Universe launched six years ago with Iron Man and that they are now on their ninth entry, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Aside from Harry Potter at Warner Bros. (eight films; $7.72 billion worldwide box office) and James Bond (25 films; $6.15 billion worldwide box office), no other franchise can even amount to the success of the MCU ($5.66 worldwide box office); it could take the throne this year. What Marvel Entertainment has done will go down in history as the most ambitious Hollywood gamble of all time. This announcement was made during the company’s shareholders meeting in Portland, Oregon, while providing more details about the productions. It appears as though Helena Bonham Carter will be returning as the Red Queen in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland sequel, Through the Looking Glass, expected to release in May 2016. Variety reports that Helena is in the final stages of her contract to reprise her infamous role.
