Review: Avatar

Where do you begin when you try to comprehend what you just witnessed with James Cameron’s Avatar? This ultimate epic film has gotten audiences riled up with and breaking box office records. Avatar definitely pushed the boundaries of filmmaking to new heights, but still had its flaws. Whether you saw it in IMAX 3D, 3D or 2D, you saw a monumental film that changed the game for cinema. Dear John Takes Down Avatar?!

Kind of late news, but the fact that Dear John took down the mighty Avatar this past weekend makes me happy and sad. Happy because Avatar is finally not number one, but sad because Dear John didn’t seem like a really good movie to bring down the titan. Oh well…Jimmy Cameron is probably not pleased. I would have thought that a Avatar would have been taken down this weekend with The Wolfman, Valetine’s Day, and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Theif. Those seem like some big money making films, but Dear John? Really? That movie didn’t seem like it would be that good, but I take it girls wanted something for them and sick of blue alien romance. Dear John managed to take in around $30 million as Avatar only got $23 million. Ca-ca-ca-curazy! Avatar will hopefully and most likely never be #1 again in the box office as the upcoming weekends look pretty slick. Valentine’s Day is my prediction for top earner this weekend since obviously it is Single’s Awareness Day………

TeeHee: Lost vs. Avatar

The “comic” strip basically explains it all. It has been flooding the Internets and taking it by storm. It is quite hilarious and I guess you might need to watch Lost to understand this, but maybe not? Just ask a Lost nerd to explain it to you if you can’t understand:

James Cameron Is A Sick Man

James Cameron’s Avatar became the second-highest grossing film worldwide of all time on Wednesday. What makes it even worse is that it was in the film’s 20th day in theaters. WHAT’S UP WITH THAT?!?!?

Domestically, the it added $6.91 million to push its total to $374.4 million. The film has climbed to the 12th spot on the all-time domestic list, surpassing Spider-Man 2 ($373.6 million). Continue reading

Avatar is Pocahontas, duh……

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Avatar is not that original, just amazing innovation of technology. When I first saw the film I was getting hints of four different films: The Matrix, Dances With Wolves, Ferngully, and Pocahontas. Now the “proof” is here with this little summary of story comparison of Avatar VS. Pocahontas. The source could be claimed by /Film for me, but I have no idea where they got it from. This is a pretty funny comparison and it pretty much does sum it up to be the same film. Go figure………? You can click on the image to enlarge it to get a better look.

The weekend all nerds and Cameron fans have been waiting for for over a year. What is all the hype about? Well I can say the hype is about $350 million, but thats a different story.
