We’re almost there. With just a few waning months until the summer, Marvel’s The Avengers is creeping up faster than you can say “excelsior!” As one of the most anticipated films of the year, this trailer is packed full of visual eye candy to hold you over until May.
Excelsior! The first epic trailer for the superhero orgy known as The Avengers has released this week. We finally get to feast our eyes on everything that has been building up for the last three years since the first Marvel movie in this superhero series debuted in 2008. Some really awesome high resolution concept art for the new movies coming out next year, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger have surfaced thanks to Marvel Studios. The official movie websites for the films have also been launched, Thor and Captain America. Thor comes out May 2011 with Captain America following on July 22. According to Variety & Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Hopkins will take on the roll of Odin, the father of Thor and Loki, to be played by Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, respectively. Natalie Portman is playing Thor’s love interest, Jane Foster.
In the movie, written by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz, the powerful but arrogant warrior Thor’s reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Paramount Pictures will release the film on May 20, 2011.
The Natalie Portman has been confirmed by Marvel Studios to play Jane Foster as Thor’s love interest in the new movie, which comes out in May 2011. Portman will star opposite Chris Hemsworth who will play our hero Thor and Tom Hiddleston who will play the villain Loki. Kenneth Branagh (Hamlet) will direct the film.
They’re getting some big names to this Marvel Universe, Norton, Bridges, Downey Jr., Tyler, and now Ms. Portman. Who will be next?
