It has now been completely confirmed, all of the previous documents from the other day have been linked to The Dark Knight Rises and we are in fact seeing the first stages of viral marketing for this film. (Happy dance.) Another vital document has been issued and has now directed fan attention to a countdown that will end today, at 10am PST – less than an hour of when I’m posting this unfortunately and fortunately.
A few days ago two mysterious documents were sent to news aggregates that set the tone for a viral marketing campaign that wasn’t exactly linked to The Dark Knight Rises, but many had a sneaking suspicion. Now a tweet from TDKR official Twitter @TheFireRises, which revealed the first image of Bane, sent out another document (seen below; click to enlarge the image).
This document mentions a Dr. Pavel, the same as before in the previous documents. How could he be related – again, remember I have not and will not partake in any Dark Knight Rises spoilers/trailers/etc. In this new document they discuss the terms of Dr. Pavel’s security and speak of “Operation Early Bird.” When you go to OperationEarlyBird.com it has a countdown clock, which always is a good thing on the Internets.
Analysts suggest that this “Operation Early Bird” could reveal the first theatrical trailer early for fans. Like the viral marketing from The Dark Knight, this could just be leading up to something bigger instead of simply handing over the first trailer for the end of the biggest trilogy of this generation. I would honestly hate for it to be just the trailer because the whole build for TDK‘s campaign was immensely epic and I would hate to just get a trailer this early on.
We will just have to wait and see until 10am PST today. What do you suppose the clock is ticking down to?
Thanks to /Film for the tip!
