This week, one of the most ambitious horror series releases its next installment upon audiences everywhere and American Horror Story: Asylum also premieres. See what I did there? After the grueling roller coaster of a ride the first season provided, will Asylum be able to deliver the goods that everyone is dying for? After the jump, gain a sneak peak into the second season of American Horror Story along with the first five minutes of the premiere episode!
There isn’t much American Horror Storyhas to live up to from its first season of frights, but perhaps we can find something special in Asylum. The cast is very promising and the subject matter Ryan Murphy will befell upon his viewers sounds captivating, but so was the Harmon family – and we all know how that turned out.
Looking at the official promo, it delivers some story beats where we can see some major differences in tone compared to the first season, which really excites me. I like the range of characters all of the cast are playing. And despite the ridiculous mini teasers the show dished out, it is the real deal that gets more more excited.
If that didn’t wet your whistle, FX and American Horror Story have also collaborated together to create a short mini-documentary before the season premiere of Asylum. Here you will find cast and production interviews that hype up the mystery surrounding this ex-tuberculosis hospital. The cast seems very enthusiastic, especially James Cromwell, who I’m most looking forward – significantly after the fact he was the farmer from Babe…
And if you are still not convinced, just released a day prior before the premiere, the first five minutes of the premiere episode is up for viewing. I did not watch it because I am a big advocate of spoiler free content, but I can tell you I accidentally happened upon the first few seconds. A character says, “Just be sexy please,” and all I can think to myself is that I will say the same thing about this show as soon as it begins. We can only go up hill from here, right?
We will see the return of Evan Peters, Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, and Sarah Paulson along with some new cast members, including James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Chloë Sevigny, and Adam Levine.
American Horror Story: Asylum begins Wednesday, October 17 at 10pm EST only on FX.
